Family Christmas Eve Pageant at CPC 4:00PM!

We are excited to announce our first Family Christmas Eve Pageant at Charleston Presbyterian Church.  The pageant begins at 4:00 PM.   Children and adults will be participating in a drama of the birth of Jesus and the subsequent arrival of the shepherds to the manger.   The narration is made up of the Scripture verses that relate to the Christmas story both from the Old and New Testaments.   Sunday morning will be our traditional Rocking Chair message for 2017 supported by the great carols of Christmas.

CPC Celebrates its Three Year Anniversary on Sunday, December 3, 2017

On December 3, 2017, Charleston Presbyterian will be celebrating its three year anniversary.  We were established by God and were first gathered together in a prayer service on December 7, 2014.   God is still in the process of re-creating His church in Charleston as Christ calls our newest Covenant Partners to join CPC on December 3, along with 2 adult baptisms.

We invite you to our 9:45 AM Worship and 11:00 AM Sunday Small Groups on December 3rd.  We will then enjoy a covered dish luncheon at 12:00 Noon in the Family Life Center.  Please call the church office to reserve a place for you and your family.  You can make reservations by calling (843)437-8219.  We look forward to sharing together in what God is doing at Charleston Presbyterian Church,  (ECO).

Thanksgiving Community Joint Worship Service of CPC and CSMC, November 19, 11:00AM

For many Americans, the Thanksgiving meal includes seasonal dishes such as roast turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.  But the holiday feast actually dates back to November 1621, when the newly arrived Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians gathered at Plymouth for an autumn harvest celebration, and to thank God for His blessings upon them all.

That first year, the early American colonists and the native people of America worked together to survive the difficult winter.  Their prayers went up for God’s protection.  And although many died that first winter, the colony was going to survive and continue.  God answered their prayers.

Thanksgiving is a special holiday to thank God for His salvation and the many blessings in our lives.  Today, we are reminded that people from every walk of life are brought together by the Spirit of God in Christ to support one another.   Let us celebrate the grace of Christ in our lives and show our gratefulness this year at Thanksgiving by worshiping our Lord and Savior.

Charleston Presbyterian and Charlestowne Southern Methodist are inviting the community to join us for a Community Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 19th at 11:00AM.  Please call the  church office (843) 437-8219 (CPC) or (843) 766-9405 (CSMC) for more details.  We would love to have you and your family as our guests and to celebrate Thanksgiving together with us.  May the Lord bless you and your family abundantly.

CPC Service of Wholeness and Healing, November 8, 6:00PM

Charleston Presbyterian Church is holding “A Service of Wholeness and Healing,” on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 6:00PM

When a church makes sincere efforts to intercede and pray for the needs of its congregation and the needs of people outside the church walls, the very first thing that we can notice is just how numerous and varied the needs of God’s people are.  Secondly, another result of intercessory prayer is that there are many victories and healings in people’s lives.  Therefore when God answers our prayers, we must not attribute our victories to blind luck or medical sources alone, but to God’s power and gracious will.   It is God Who ultimately decides to heal us through whatever means He chooses.  And so the prescription for healing of various types is clearly of divine origin and obviously intended for us to hear in the Bible.  The epistle of James makes it clear what our responsibilities are as people who need healing, “Is anyone among you suffering?  Then he must pray.  Is anyone cheerful?  He is to sing praises.   Is anyone among you sick?  Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.  Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.  The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.”  (James 5:13-16)

We will have the elders of CPC here to pray over you, and we will anoint you with oil in the name of the Lord and ask for God’s tender mercies and His forgiveness to be upon all of us.

500 Year Reformation Celebration at CPC!

John Calvin’s pulpit in Geneva

We are going to have a very special worship experience at 9:45AM on October 29, 2017.  That Sunday is the nearest Sunday to the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation,  which was on October 31, 1517.  We will be using the order and elements from John Calvin’s Geneva service, which almost always included communion.   We will have some special music, communion, and a Reformation message with historical notes and comments to help us as we make our way through this historic order of worship from the Reformation.

John Calvin typically opened by entering the sanctuary and positioning himself behind the communion table.  Then he would say, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalm 124:8)  A call to the confession of sins and an appropriate prayer followed.  In Strasbourg, after confession, he used an absolution, “To all those who thus repent and seek Jesus Christ for their salvation, I pronounce absolution in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.”

Come, experience the historic ways our spiritual forefathers/mothers worshiped God!  After the service and our Sunday Small Groups at 11:00AM, we will have a luncheon in the Family Life Center at around 12:00, Noon.

“Love Him, Love Them” Haitian Children’s Choir Coming to CPC Sept. 17th!

Join us on Sunday, September 17 at 6:00PM to celebrate God’s witness through the “Love Him, Love Them” Haitian Children’s Choir.  We will meet at Charleston Presbyterian Church in the Family Life Center at 1405 Miles Drive in West Ashley.   Please pray for these beautiful children and how we might support them.  A love offering will also be taken up.  Click on “Love Him, Love Them” Choir  to watch a sample of their music.

The Choir was born from tragedy.   All but 5 of these children lost everything in the Earthquake in 2010.  Most of them lost their complete family that day.  They found their way to the home of the Paul’s who were music teachers.

The Paul’s never intended on having an orphanage but out of necessity LifeSaver Orphanage was born. The Paul’s have truly been a Life Saver for these children. They don’t have much but what they have they have given, and keep giving, to these children. They are one of the happiest FAMILIES we have ever met!

The LHLT Choir toured the US from July to September 2016 and were well received by churches, community organizations, corporations and even professional sporting events. Funds raised during the tour help to support children in Haiti, Ukraine and US.

CPC Talent Show, May 19, 2017

There was dancing, vocal performances, piano, and other instrumental performances.  There was storytelling, lighthearted moments and also spiritual testimonies and the singing of hymns and Gospel songs.  We even had a name drawn for a free portrait by a well-known, talented artist who graciously donated her talent to her church!

Keep tuned to this website and church calendar to find additional opportunities for fellowship, ministry, and mission at CPC!
