CPC – From Church Plant to ECO Recognized Congregation!

The laying on of hands in prayer for CPC’s first elders

Our Lord established a new ECO church plant in Charleston on December 7, 2014.  The Charleston Presbyterian Church is a faithful Presbyterian congregation that believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ and accepts the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as God’s infallible Word.  CPC is a church where people can truly grow as Christ’s disciples and also have opportunities to help make disciples for Jesus.  CPC is a wonderful alternative for Christians who want to follow Jesus and not merely adhere to political correctness.  God’s people at CPC profess the revealed Christ of the Scriptures, not some imaginary Christ.  We confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all and the only Savior of the world.

The Installation of Rev. Dr. Earl Bland

CPC was begun in prayer, and in less than a year the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians has recognized CPC as an organized part of the body of Christ.  God did it.  May God receive all the glory and honor and praise!  At the East Central Presbytery on October 9, 2015, we were officially brought to the floor for approval before our presbytery.   Our pastor, team of leaders, and entire congregation celebrate the good news of Christ working through the people of CPC.

Then at 10:00 AM on Sunday, October 18, 2015 our elders were ordained and installed along with our pastor, Rev. Dr. Earl A. Bland. A commission of the East Central Presbytery was present to lead the installation and ordination of our elders and the installation of our pastor through the laying on of hands and prayer.  We thank the Lord for those people who are pioneers with us on this new adventure.  We are grateful for the families and individuals at CPC who are pioneers and missionaries in the faith and who want to be more than just good consumers of local church programs.

Metaxas Mere Christianity

Disciple ministries are continuing to grow at Charleston Presbyterian with the addition of a new Adult Sunday School Class to begin this Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 8:45 AM.  Our initial curriculum will be a discussion DVD led by Eric Metaxas on C.S. Lewis’s Book, Mere Christianity.

In this 8-session video group study and discussion, you will discover why Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis is one of the most read and beloved Christian books of all time.  But seventy years later from when it was first delivered on radio, what relevance does it have to our world today?   Host Eric Metaxas and a variety of Christian leaders−including Philip Yancey, Alister McGrath, Devin Brown, Paul McCusker, Douglas Gresham, and others−help us understand the timeless message of C. S. Lewis in fresh ways for a new generation.

Join us for this 8 week study every Sunday at 8:45 AM at 232 Calhoun Street in Charleston, SC.

Fellowship Luncheon for August

01 variety 8-9-15-2-14MB

Last Sunday a family of CPC members united by Jesus Christ enjoyed a meal together and shared all the newest things that God is doing among us.  How grateful we are for the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the ministry and missions we are granted in Christ.  It is a joy to serve our Lord.  And it is only in following Jesus that we become one and grow in love and faith as His disciples.

The invitation our Lord makes is for all His people to come and join Him in His Kingdom and to unite with His true Church: the Bride of Christ.   You are invited to join us soon for another luncheon after Sunday worship.  We meet at 10:00AM at the Stuhr’s Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street.  We look forward to meeting you and your family!

New Fellowship Luncheons Begin at CPC

02 Lluncheon

The Fellowship Ministry at Charleston Presbyterian Church is in full swing as new opportunities arise to strengthen the already close family ties at CPC.  On Sunday, July 19, a small group of members and guests went out to eat on Highway 17 to enjoy a meal and celebrate all the newest things that God is doing in our lives and at Charleston Presbyterian.

CPC will be adding new missions both locally and internationally and an adult Sunday School class in September.  The women are looking forward to starting up their Bible study again this September.  What an exciting time it is to be a part of  God’s budding fruit in this new, faithful congregation!  God is calling people from all over the Charleston area to be witnesses to His Gospel truth.  An historic church principle within the Presbyterian tradition is that, “Truth is in order to goodness.”    You can’t have one without the other.  In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul wrote,  “Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.”  (1 Cor. 13:6)  God’s love celebrates whenever His people live in the Gospel truth.  Come, experience God’s love and the Gospel truth in Christ’s new fellowship at CPC!

There were many fun activities for the kids and some very cute farm animals including goats, chickens, ducks, pony carriage rides, a miniature pig, and fishing.

Roland, the cook, is happy, so are we.
