October Pastor's Message

At the beginning of the Reformation on October 31, 1517, the Church was forever changed by a new, yet prior truth about faith. When the Bible was taken out of the hands solely of the hierarchy of priests and clergy and translated into the common language of the people, everyone who could read understood that it was by faith alone in Jesus Christ that we are saved. The verse that forever changed Martin Luther was actually from the Old Testament, Habakkuk 2:4b, “But the righteous will live by his faith.” “To live” meant not only to live in this life, but to live eternally.
The New Testament has many parallels, like Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” And in Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, and Hebrews 10:38, all quote Habakkuk 2:4b. Therefore, if the early church agreed that faith in Christ was the key to eternal life, it is safe to teach and preach this truth for all time. Especially today, as well as in Martin Luther’s day, when there seems to be other ways that become popular such as good works or philosophies or other religions, we must cling to this prior divine truth of faith in Christ as the Scriptures reveal.
This October year marks the 506th year since the beginning of the Reformation. How will we exhibit our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord? I plan to continue to worship, study together with other Christians, serve in ways the Lord leads me, and give all that I can so that the Gospel will go out from the pulpit of CPC and be heard all over America on radio broadcasts. I plan to be faithful to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ our Lord.
In Christ’s Service,

Their Mission:
Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
Working with the local church is important to Young Life:
Although congregations can minister in ways we can’t, Young Life has inroads in communities with kids who are disinterested in church. However, as Young Life staff and leaders care for these kids, we try to help them become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ who will one day be active in the life of a local church.
