Guest Pastor's Message

Hi Friends,

Loretta and I are enjoying the Sundays that we worship with you at CPC. You are such a sweet group of people who love the Lord, and we count it a privilege to partner with you in ministry – And I’m honored to share the Good News through the Sunday sermons. Below is a little food for thought for the month of September:

THE WRITING OF OUR LIVES

Here’s ten rules I ran across for effective writing. It’s entitled, How to Write Good:

1. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.

2. Avoid cliches like the plague-they're old hat.

3. Comparisons are as bad as cliches.

4. Don't use commas, that, are not, necessary.

5. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement.

6. Be more or less specific.

7. Use youre spell chekker to avoid mispeling and to catch typograhpical errers.

8. Don't never use no double negatives.

9. Poofread carefully to see if you any words out.

10. And always be sure to finish what

Have you ever considered that Jesus was not a writer. The only mention of Jesus writing is when religious authorities bring a woman caught in adultery before him, and he bends down to write in the dirt with his finger. The One identified as, “The Word” does not write a single document for His followers. The New Testament writings we possess are all penned by followers of Jesus. It is amazing that someone who has the influence of Jesus, does not leave His students with any manuscript.

The fact that Jesus was not a writer, and His Church continues to thrive 2000 years after He walked the earth, underscores the power of His actions and spoken words. You may never write a book for publication, but like Jesus, your actions and spoken words tell a powerful story. An old Christian proverb declares: you may be the only Bible some people ever read. When we consider the fact that rather than read our words, people read our lives, it puts a fresh outlook on the way we interact with others. Jesus didn’t write, yet He changed the world. We too can change our piece of the world as we live so that others can read the One called, The Word Made Flesh, in our daily lives.

Keep Shining!

The Better Together Ladies Bible Study is doing a study on “12 Daring Women of the Bible: Real Women, Real Trials, Real Triumphs.” Each of these women in the Bible will give you new insights into God’s character and help you persevere through difficult times as well as find joy in the hope that Jesus provides. Each of the 12 weeks is designed to be a separate study so you can miss a week and still benefit. Contact Susan Daniel with any questions at 843-766-3253 or bdaniel222@comcast.net. We meet every Tuesday in the FLC at 10:00AM. Feel free to bring a friend.

YOUNG LIFE OF
WEST ASHLEY
Each Monday evening in the Family Life Center @ 6:00
West Ashley YoungLife

Their Mission:
Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
Working with the local church is important to Young Life:
Although congregations can minister in ways we can’t, Young Life has inroads in communities with kids who are disinterested in church. However, as Young Life staff and leaders care for these kids, we try to help them become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ who will one day be active in the life of a local church.
